Grahame Davies

Grahame Davies Profile Photo
Grahame has been a technologist throughout his career, starting out writing bespoke software systems for a range of businesses, majoring on Fintech. A move into comms services led to the opportunity of providing high volume consumer internet access through co-founding Demon Internet, a very successful trailblazing Internet Service Provider (ISP). There followed an investment into an early stage ISP through which, as Group MD, he re-focused the company on business services, built datacenters and telecoms networks servicing billions of minutes. The pan-European company, Easynet, listed on AIM, then advanced to the FTSE, achieving FTSE 250 status and eventually exited to the Sky group.

Grahame has held senior positions in several industry associations, notably as Chairman of the London Internet Exchange (LINX), a position he held for 14 years. LINX is a mutually-owned not-for-profit organisation delivering network peering for the community that includes all major cloud, data communications, telecommunications, financial, and enterprise companies across more than 85 countries.

Throughout his executive career and through his many investments as an Angel investor, Grahame has led, or been part of a team, involved in numerous acquisitions and business sales, including his own ISP. Through his NED work he has catalysed many businesses, mentored senior management, managed institutional investors and overseen numerous acquisitions and successful exits.

Today Grahame is providing business development and mentoring services to a number of companies including a music tuition company and an AI based ESG start-up.

Grahame has a passion for music which has included a continual struggle to play the piano, starting a sheet music business with his sons’ piano teacher, and seeking out small venues enjoying grassroots acts at pubs through to renowned legends at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club. When not adding to his collection of sheet music, he can be found running, a hobby he does in between injuries, with his club or volunteering at his local parkrun. A 3:15 marathon at the age of 57 will remain a highlight of his distance performance.
